Thursday Mojo went to the vet; he weighs 14 lbs. 2 oz. and is healthy. He also had a fecal examination and I heard nothing from the vet, so He is fine in that department.
Friday I went to the doctor, but as usual the grace period I allow for an appointment was exceeded, so I left and rescheduled. When I got home, I called to complain and was transferred to an associate medical director. I left a message that I did not want to talk to some lackey; I want the person in charge. I still have not heard from them, which led me to pen this email today:
Dear Ms. Forer:
I am writing you as a result of my October 30 appointment, at which my Doctor no showed.
Out of frustration I want to complain about the level of professionalism and courtesy to which your volunteers, staff and doctors ascribe. First of all, let's start with the definition of the word appointment:
- a fixed mutual agreement for a meeting; engagement: We made an appointment to meet again.
- a meeting set for a specific time or place: I'm late for my appointment.
- the act of appointing, designating, or placing in office: to fill a vacancy by appointment.
- an office, position, or the like, to which a person is appointed: He received his appointment as ambassador to Italy.
- Usually, appointments. equipment, furnishings, or accouterments.
- appointments, accouterments for a soldier or a horse.
- Manège. a horse-show class in which the contestant need not be a member of a hunt but must wear regulation hunt livery. Compare Corinthian (def. 9).
- Archaic. decree; ordinance.
On the day of my appointment, I was scheduled for 08:00; the doors of the clinic did not open till 08:05 (by my clock); and I was not called to register till 08:15. My normal grace period for anyone, including President Obama, is fifteen minutes.
When I called to reschedule my appointment, Cynthia did so for me and when I asked for the name of the person in charge of everyone at the clinic, I was given the name of Blanca Andres, who's professionalism leaves a lot to be desired, as it is now three days later and she has not returned my phone call.
Currently I am unemployed, but I still know what an appointment is and have enough professional courtesy to keep my appointments in a timely fashion and to return phone calls.
I used to encounter this problem more frequently, but have since changed my appointment time to the first of the day to avoid such discourteousness. After all, what excuse can be given for tardiness to the first appointment of the day? Previously, I have been informed that all doctors are volunteers. I greatly appreciate that, but fail to see how the relevance to tardiness. I think professionalism trumps volunteerism any day of the week that ends with a Y.
My primary reason for writing is two-fold:
- I am trying to educate you on how your clinic is being run.
- I have previously received correspondence regarding my missed appointments; now it's your turn and you can expect a letter every single time I am not seen at my appointed time.
Finally, I would like to comment once again that your staff that records vitals for the doctor, are still forgetting to take my blood sugar despite having DIABETIC stamped on my chart. As I have become more friendly with this staff I am reluctant to divulge names, which you can expect in future correspondence.
I look forward to your reply.
PS: I just remembered...I took my dog to the vet on Thursday and he received better professional courtesy than I!
